Warm Wonderful Areas
As I look outside of my own little world I am finding great new places. Many are aware I don't feel "settled". I'm always looking for a great place to move to or retire in. A dream area would be Kauai Hawaii. Now can you imagine this Northwest Ohio gal living in Hawaii? Aloha! The scenery is great and do I even need to mention the great weather? There are many affordable properties and rentals right now. The hardest trick will be me fitting into my grass skirt! I can only imagine looking at the ocean while drinking my morning coffee.
At the opposite end of the spectrum would be Fort Myers in Florida. The area is sunny and warm, a true retirement community. However will I ever be really ready for that? I would enjoy the weather, but really I'm fifty not eighty, maybe I'll have to think about that one a little more. On the other hand properties are at their lowest right now and I could miss a great opportunity.
One last great place would be Miami. This would be so close to my daughter! I love how they have"sweater alerts". The temperature right now is around seventy degrees. I wish my thermostat could be set to that. Decisions, decisions, I guess I'm really not quite ready to move yet.

Shaking My Purse For a Pen
Have you ever searched and searched your purse for a pen? Trust me I have. After digging to the bottom I found this neat personalized pen . Why can't I be so clever to promote my blog with a great pen or great custom pencils? When I pulled out the pen I thought the design was really cool. Of course, only I would really study a pen!
I think in this day and age there are just so many ways to promote your site. Everyone knows that I love Twitter and Facebook. Social networking is really a new market for me. Remember I didn't grow up with computers, however I am learning. Even us baby boomers can rock out a great blog post.
Now don't get me wrong, while social networking is great nothing beats that friendly reminder you get when you pull out a few advertising pens from the bottom of your purse. Don't forget everyone loves to take a free pen.

Snow Storms, Work and Coupons
Let me start with, I'm catching a cold and I'm not feeling well. Oh and I just worked two twelve hour shifts. My nose is runny and NW Ohio is predicting another "One to Watch" snow storm. I hang my head in shame, but sick and all right after work I went to the grocery store.
Like most people who shop without a mission and late at night before a snow storm, I got very little for alot of money. I actually had no coupons with me.The shelves were empty, no hamburg and I snagged the last loaf of white bread at $2.49! (See Frances you're not the only one!)
Show me no pity, but at least I can say I'm human.

Cute dorm room chore chart
Guest post by Jewel Cole
I'm a freshman in college and one of the things that really stressed me out even more than schoolwork last semester was how messy my dorm room was. I talked to my roommate about it at the end of exams last semester and we both knew that we had been slacking really badly and waited until our room got terribly messy to clean it up, which was even worse. So we decided to make a chore chart together.
I went looking online while I was at home over break to find a tutorial on how to make a chore chart. While I was online doing that I randomly found a comparison of wild blue vs dial-up and after I showed it to my parents they switched their home internet service from dial-up.
I bought all the materials and when we came back for the semester we put our cute chore chart together while we ate delivery pizza in our dorm room catching up after break. I think that it will keep us motivated to do all of our chores.

Where's My Refund?
First of I humbly hang my head and say this post is NOT part of Precious' Money Saving Challenge! Yes, I do get a tax refund. I let Uncle Sammy have my money all year for free. No lectures please, I like my refund. Where did I miss that if you file the long form with itemized deductions the IRS won't process it till Feb 15th?
Well you've guessed it, I save some of my big bills each year to pay with it. My car insurance for example. Now I'm asking, "Where's my refund?" Its due soon and the refund is delayed. Oh I know, I'll get it from that great emergency fund I've saved for all year. Not! Guess again, depleted with the first emergency. You know I have so many. Just another lesson in the life of frugality!

Boy I Really Need a New Purse
Not only do I need a new purse, but I need a new camera to show you! I thought my camera just needed new batteries, but even with new batteries it still doesn't work! Oh, back to the purse. Both of my purse straps broke and are now just dangling, so I to carry it I have to clutch it. Now I don't know about you, but my purse is big and crammed full of junk! This certainly can't last long.
Kristie thought it was really funny, because I actually told her I pre-shoped the other day. Meaning I won a $50 giftcatd to Macy's, but haven't received it yet. Little does she know, a mom can pre-shop too. I'll show you what purse I bought if I ever get a new camera. I don't know how long I can clutch my old purse.

Is a Wedding in Your Future?
No doubt if your getting married, you're already extremely busy getting ready for the big day. There is always so much to prepare for. First you have to make sure you get the bridal shower invitations out in plenty of time. I find that three to four weeks before the shower is the right time length. If you send them out too early people tend to lose them or forget. I had my shower about seven weeks before my wedding. I think thats plenty of time, plus it gives you a chance to look through your gifts to see what you still might need.
Now when I got married I really wasn't too frugal, but what new bride doesn't look for cheap wedding invites . Every bride wants sophisiticated wedding invites on a meager budget, but is that really possible? Of course! The main thing is to shop around and look for deals. Decide exactly what you want the invitation to say. Think of ideas or what your theme may be. Don't forget your colors and make sure they compliment each other.
Now don't forget to get those wedding invitations out on time. Make sure you have proper postage and don't forget to stamp you RSVP card. Your guests will appreciate the gesture. Last but not least, save one of those invites to put in your wedding memory book.

Winter and the Big Car Repairs
You may not know this, but my husband is an auto mechanic. Of course he is mostly self taught, but he knows how to fix a car. He doesn't have his own auto shop but rather works from the drive-away. We live in NW Ohio, but there are many reliable places where you can get your car fixed. If you live across the country San Diego auto repair may just be the place you need. From tire rotation to engine repair, a good mechanic can do it all.
I don't know about you, but I really get tired of seeing my check engine light being on. There are many reasons why this light can be on and its usually best to have this problem looked at early. My husband says this can be anything from a major engine problem to something simple like replacing the gas cap. It never fails, I usually have the bigger problem!
Older cars tends to always have the check engine light on. My new car luckily doesn't have the light on. Yes, I did purchase a new car in December, but it was a big decision whether I wanted a car or a Ford F-150 . My husband really wanted a truck, however I won out and was able to get a car. Maybe next time I'll give in.

Retire in Ohio, I Don't Think So
I live in NW Ohio and the weather here can be a fright. Over the past years I really been thinking about moving to another state. Something that has a little bit of better weather for me. I have several relatives from my father's side that live in California so that could be a possibility. The Santa Cruz area could be a possibility. Their are several condo communities there and the real estate market has held its own. How great it would be to live a little closer to these distant relatives.
Another area that I've been interested in is Hawaii. Who wouldn't love to own a condo or home in this area. Now my be the time to snag a bargain there. I'd love to live on the ocean! I can only imagine sitting out on my patio with my morning coffee. What a great area to retire in . I can smell the ocean breezes already.
Believe it or not, I've also been intrigued by Denver, Colorado . I do realize the weather there can be a little dicey, however I've always heard what a great community it is. The shopping there is fantastic. There are also great restaurants and local shops. As you know, I'm not much of a snow buff, but the scenery is beautiful. I think all the local entertainment will outdo the weather for me.
I still haven't decided yet, but I'm definitely exploring all the great areas that are available to me.

Tropical Traditions Moisturizing Cream Give-Away
From the Wesite: Our 100% pure moisturizing creams are especially useful for very dry skin. Highly concentrated, they work well for overnight use, and are great for massaging into the skin. Ingredients: purified water, organic virgin coconut oil, plant based emulsifying wax, palm stearic, grapefruit seed extract, organic beeswax, and organic virgin palm oil. Scented varieties contain organic essential oils.
My review: I've used the cream for about a week now, and find it leaves my skin soft and smooth. I especially like using it on my elbows because they tend to dry out over the winter months. The cream definitely softens them.
Tropical Traditions carries a wide variety of products. They have a great recipe section on using coconut oil in cooking which can be viewed Here . I can't wait to try a few of their recipes.

Snow Day Equals Baking Day
Cinnamon-Sugar Soft Cookies (Better than Snickerdoodles!)
Ingredients:
Combine in bowl:
1cup dark brown sugar (I used light brown, hey its what I had)
1/2 cup white sugar
2 sticks semi melted margarine
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
Cream mixture
Add:
21/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
In separate bowl: Combine a cinnamin and sugar mixture, about 3/4 white sugar and cinnamon
Your dough will look something like this. Yes its a little sticky, so refridgerate for at least one hour.
Roll the dough into balls with your hands and roll in sugar cinnamon mixture. Bake for 7 to 8 min at about 300-350 degrees, depending on how ancient your oven is. No need to grease cookie sheet.
The cookies will look like this. They are soft and oh so good! Makes about 3 dozen fairly large cookies. Thanks to Sue who was a former co-worker of mine who gave me the recipe.
