Put cold left-over noodles in a pan, add 1 tblsp margarine, 2 eggs and season.Combine together. Heat till eggs are cooked. A great way to use up noodles and tasty too! My girls love them.

Cool Weather Time For Slovak Pigs in the Blanket

My mother's parents came from Slovakia, so naturally we made traditional stuffed cabbage. Here's my mom's recipe, enjoy, it's worth the work!

Ingredients:
3 1/2 lbs lean ground pork (yes this is pigs in the blanket, not cow in the blanket)
1 1/2 cup white rice
2 eggs
Seasoning, I use salt, pepper, garlic and season salt
handful, 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup water
1 can tomato sauce or some sort of stewed tomatoes
2 heads of cabbage, I also stuff a few mild peppers from my garden

First parboil your cabbage. This step must be done to prevent cracking of leaves and ease rolling. I boil mine roughly 10 min from start of burner. Remove and drain water.

Prepare your meat. In large bowl, season, add eggs .

Next prepare your rice. You must rinse your rinse to remove the starch. Simply add water and drain. Don't question it just do it! My mother did!

Add your rice and water to meat. It will look soupy, but will end up like this:

See, no juice, the rice absorbs it all. You will have dry stuffed cabbage if you forget the water.

Now rolling. See its parboiled. Also cut off some of the stem if its tough. Please No toothpicks! Simply roll and tuck the ends in, place the end down where the seam is so it stays closed.

The finished product before cooking, cut up the left over cabbage that was unsuitable for rolling. Add your tomato sauce and sprinkle with the brown sugar. Mom's secret it cuts the acid, and slightly sweetens. Add extra water to pan. We like lots of juice, but fair warning it usually runs over in my oven. I cook at 300 in my ancient oven, now remember you've already seen it from the sixties. I recommend 350 for 2-21/2 hrs.  Serve with mashed potatoes of course!
